    The Ten­nessee Edu­ca­tion­al Equi­ty Coali­tion presents, Cast­ing Our Vision, a series with oppor­tu­ni­ties to hear from nation­al, state, and local lead­ers on inno­v­a­tive prac­tices that help achieve equi­ty in schools. Each event is a deep-dive into one of the Coalition’s four pol­i­cy pri­or­i­ties: (1) Excel­lent Teach­ers and Lead­ers, (2) Strong Account­abil­i­ty Sys­tems, (3) Appro­pri­ate and Equi­table Resources, and (4) Suc­cess­ful Out­comes in Post­sec­ondary Access and Com­ple­tion. We hope you can join us as we cast our vision for change in Ten­nessee. This event will cen­ter the con­ver­sa­tion around increas­ing post­sec­ondary oppor­tu­ni­ties for incar­cer­at­ed Ten­nesseans fea­tur­ing guest speak­ers: Dr. Erin Cor­bett, Senior Research Ana­lyst at the Insti­tute for High­er Edu­ca­tion Pol­i­cy, Assis­tant Com­mis­sion­er for Reha­bil­i­ta­tive Ser­vices Ed Welch from the Ten­nessee Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions, Kate Watkins, Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of Lip­scomb University’s LIFE Pro­gram, and State Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Harold Love.

    Edu­ca­tion advo­cates from across the state of Ten­nessee con­vene at an annu­al con­fer­ence that is led by the Ten­nessee Edu­ca­tion­al Equi­ty Coali­tion. Our two-day Sum­mit pro­vides an oppor­tu­ni­ty for atten­dees to hear from nation­al, state and local lead­ers on the most press­ing edu­ca­tion­al issues of the day. Mem­bers attend break­out ses­sions, craft an action agen­da, learn about advo­ca­cy strate­gies, and the Sum­mit clos­es with vis­its to leg­is­la­tors at the Ten­nessee State Leg­is­la­ture.
