The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
Beginning in December 2018, a new law, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires states to rate schools. In Tennessee, schools will receive a letter (A-F) grade. The Tennessee Educational Equity Coalition is committed to helping you understand what the grades mean and what you can do to get involved. Successful implementation of this new grading system requires collaboration between community members, educators, parents and students. While grades will not be assigned until late 2018, there is still plenty advocates can do now. Download the resources below to learn more about the new grading system in Tennessee.
