Casting Our Vision
The Tennessee Educational Equity Coalition presents, Casting Our Vision, a discussion series with opportunities to hear from national, state, and local leaders on innovative practices that help achieve equity in schools. Each event is a deep-dive into one of the Coalition’s four policy priorities: (1) Excellent Teachers and Leaders, (2) Strong Accountability Systems, (3) Appropriate and Equitable Resources, and (4) Successful Outcomes in Postsecondary Access and Completion. We hope you can join us as we cast our vision for change in Tennessee.
Increasing Postsecondary Opportunities for Incarcerated Tennesseans
Monday, November 12, 2018, 2:30 p.m.
Casa Azafrán, Nashville, Tennessee
Event Description: Today, nearly 60,000 people are imprisoned in local, state or federal prisons across Tennessee. Their educational attainment is staggering with only 30 percent of prisoners obtaining a high school diploma nationwide and only 22 percent have a postsecondary credential. Why should Tennesseans care about postsecondary opportunities for the incarcerated? Join the Tennessee Educational Equity Coalition as we facilitate a conversation about the state of postsecondary opportunities for the incarcerated in Tennessee.
