The House and Senate Education Committees had their final meetings. All education-related bills that will be considered this session are making their way through the rest of the committee process and to the chamber floors.
Some important bills that passed on the floor involve requiring a report on higher education opportunities for incarcerated individuals, helping charter schools identified as priority schools, creation of the state Charter School Commission, and expansion of career and technical education.
The ESA bill is still in the spotlight. Last week, the House Finance Committee passed the bill out to the House floor after making changes to appeal to rural legislators.
