  • Last week…
    • The House and Sen­ate Edu­ca­tion Com­mit­tees had their final meet­ings. All edu­ca­tion-relat­ed bills that will be con­sid­ered this ses­sion are mak­ing their way through the rest of the com­mit­tee process and to the cham­ber floors.
    • Some impor­tant bills that passed on the floor involve requir­ing a report on high­er edu­ca­tion oppor­tu­ni­ties for incar­cer­at­ed indi­vid­u­als, help­ing char­ter schools iden­ti­fied as pri­or­i­ty schools, cre­ation of the state Char­ter School Com­mis­sion, and expan­sion of career and tech­ni­cal edu­ca­tion.
    • The ESA bill is still in the spot­light. Last week, the House Finance Com­mit­tee passed the bill out to the House floor after mak­ing changes to appeal to rural leg­is­la­tors.
