HB939, the controversial Education Savings Account legislation, passed a key House Committee this week with a 14–9 vote.
Other bills that advanced through education committees include ones requiring career aptitude assessments for students, reporting on instructional salaries and wages to increase transparency, and for LEA’s policies for alternatives to exclusionary discipline to include restorative justice practices.
HB939 (ESA bill) will be heard in House Government Operations this week and the corresponding Senate bill (SB795) will be heard in the Senate Education Committee this Wednesday.
The four House Education Subcommittees are expected to hear their final calendars this week.
