Notes from the Legislature — Bill Filling Complete
Last week… The bill filing deadline for the House and Senate was last week. There were 214 Education bills filed. Education committees met for presentations.
The Senate Education Committee heard presentations from SCORE and the Department of Education regarding assessment updates.
The House Education Committee was visited by Commissioner Penny Schwinn and Dr. Sharon Griffin from the Department of Education to give an update on Achievement School Districts.
The Senate Education Committees will hear presentations from the University of Memphis on “Public Private Partnership Update” and from THEC director, Mike Krause, on “College Readiness and Remediation.” The Committee also has 3 bills on it’s agenda.
The House Education Committee will also hear presentations from the University of Memphis and from THEC regarding the “State of Higher Education.” No bills are in committee this week.
House Education Subcommittees: The Education Administration Subcommittee has 4 bills on the agenda. Curriculum, Testing, & Innovation Subcommittee will meet to review 2 bills.
